Exhibitionist has developed and refined a comprehensive ticketing solution for Museums of History New South Wales, transforming Sydney Open from a manual ticketing process into a fully digital experience that serves thousands of visitors across 20+ heritage venues.

Three-Year Evolution

2023 Foundation: We built MHNSW's first custom ticketing portal—a streamlined single-page experience integrated with Sydney Opera House's API infrastructure. The system displayed membership pricing alongside standard rates to drive conversions, with tickets distributed via mail or physical collection points.

2024 Hypertickets Implementation: We implemented Hypertickets to create a complete digital ticketing experience. Visitors could use digital tickets to collect wristbands at designated locations, though scanner limitations meant entry was restricted to three main venues despite Sydney Open spanning over 20 architectural sites.

2025 Scanner Solution: We solved the entry bottleneck by developing a custom scanner webapp accessible on any device. This gave MHNSW's entire volunteer workforce the ability to scan tickets at any location, finally matching the scale and ambition of Sydney Open's multi-venue format.

We continue to support MHNSW's digital infrastructure, maintaining both their website and Tessitura systems into 2026. The modular platform and tools we've built for Sydney Open will be rolled out across different aspects of the museum with a host of new optimisations and improvements in the roadmap to support the museums digital evolution
