NCM
Interactive museum displays
Exhibitionist created six interactive touchscreen installations for the inaugural National Communications Museum in Hawthorne, transforming static display cabinets into dynamic storytelling experiences.
Interactive Design
Working with designer Mel Huang, we integrated touchscreens with large viewing monitors directly into the museum's exhibit furniture. The displays use a chat-based interface that lets visitors explore multiple narrative pathways, revealing connections between communications artifacts and their hidden histories.
Implementation
- Six custom touchscreen stations with paired display monitors
- Chat-driven navigation through interconnected stories
- Seamless cabinet integration maintaining exhibition aesthetics
- Branching narratives highlighting artifact relationships
The system transforms how visitors engage with the collection, turning passive viewing into active discovery through conversational exploration.
We loved collaborating with the NCM team on this opening installation and have some exciting new artistic projects cooking for 2026.
